133/365 Marbles

If every year is a marble, how many marbles do you have left? How many sunrises, how many opportunities to rise to the full stature of your being?

132/365 Manic Monday

The ironic thing is that it was actually a really chill day until tonight... then it got a little crazy at Trader Joe's... but it all worked out in the end... and I just didn't get to take very many shots today... need to start planning ahead, it's nearly dark when I get home now!

131/365 Guilty Pleasures...

I'm not a really major TV watcher. Most of the time I would rather watch a movie, or I just end up watching whatever I come across at the time.
But, THIS show is different. This show, I've waited months to come back to... I've even been watching the re-runs... and I'm so glad it's back... :)

Addendum:
OK, Brian has requested that I explain that this is not actually what our TV looks like... the scan lines and all were added post production in photoshop... we have a very nice, big Sony flatscreen... :)

130/365 The Train

The Time Between

By Jan Jones

Treasure it, the time spent traveling

This time between roles

The time between

Slipping from one existence into another

A spider strand of no-man’s-land

The time between

You’re no-one here

Invisible, unfettered

Not pressured

Treasure it, this time spent traveling

This time between arenas

This time between.

129/365 Woolworth View

Long day at work today. Good thing I love where I work! And I must say, the long days are much easier to take when the paycheck comes....

128/365 Louis vs. Coyote

Brian and Louis ran across a pack of coyotes yesterday in the river bed. Of course Louis thought he had to be the tough guy and tore off after them. Luckily he returned with just a scratch across his face. It could have been so much worse! And I'm so grateful that Chickee wasn't with them. She would have been toast for sure.
Coyotes in the middle of the morning in a very busy trail... not good. They must be really stressed with this drought we're in. Here's to hoping the Mountain Lions don't follow suit!

127/365 Woman As Orchid

Woman as Orchid

People say that Orchids are hard to care for,

An urban legend that swirls around those bright

Beautiful red blue orange pink yellow dark light

Flowers goddesses that

Lean and lounge sensually from every

Elite doorstep, every corporate hallway

And are so often looked past in florist's windows because

A vicious reputation precedes them.

Yet my orchids grow, wild and fair

With hardly a care from my almost-

Green hands, reaching, floating,

Dripping down their own stems

Filling the world of my room with

Such an effortless exotic grace and

Pop.

Orchids are women, a female flower

Undeniably

Then women are orchids as well?

Women are lush, curved, open and pinked

Sometimes blooming, sometimes waiting

Catching the sunlight as it dapples in

White yellow spots on our shiny leaves,

Stems and buds.

People say that women can be hard to care for,

An urban legend that swirls around our

Long hair and pointed shoes,

Every day goddesses that

Lean and lounge and work and play

And hurt and cry and love and laugh

And try and fail and try and win and

Hope and pray and want and need and

Walk past you, day in and day out

Searching for a place or a way to set down

Our own roots, our own strength

In a world that sighs and says

"they are pretty, but too much work...I'll take

A peace lily instead."

126/365 Sparkle & Shine...

'Cause sometimes you need to be reminded...
Saw a "shooting star" on my way home from work today, right over the 101 North... bright blue... I made a wish... let you know when it comes true.....

125/365 BTSA

Bobby, Alex, Megan, and I in orientation today...
Now it's really late for me. I had issues editing a video for a friend (thought it'd be a piece of cake) my imovie has taken a big poop since I last used it... and by the time I remembered that we had video editing software on the PC, it was mega late... the video came out ok though, but not to MY levels of perfection.... hope it does the trick for them!

123/365 Socked in...

Fog is crazy... this was what I woke up to... It was a busy day, and I just didn't take a bunch of pics. Went to the gym again for a workout. I really like weight training, hate cardio. But at least going there, I can do different things; elliptical, rowing machine, bike (hate). Brian is my personal trainer, and he's really great. Showing me how to work the machines, telling me numbers of reps and weight to do... the only thing he made me do so far that I did not like was ride the spin bike... but I still did it! :)

122/365 Just a quick stop!

I lucked out and got to say a big "hi" to Dan Jacobs tonight! I went down to the gym for a workout, and he and Cali were about to hit the road back home. I forced him to pose for one quick one...

121/365 The worst....

So many days this is the worst part... picking out what to wear... guess life's pretty good when that's the hardest part, huh?

120/365 New Kicks!

I've been complaining that my tennies were trashed from the trail... so yesterday Brian surprised me with new ones!!! I'm going to give them a spin tomorrow at Jonathan's gym in Carp.
I'm determined to become an inspiration to my future kids.

119/365 Self

Learned about PS Textures today... uh-oh! Well, actually, I knew about using textures, but I just realized that there are a ton for free on flickr...

118/365 Civility

I feel like Rep. Joe Wilson's, and Kanye West's behavior is at the crux of what's going on in our country right now. Simple respect and civility is woefully amiss today. I see it every day in my school. Kids who were never even taught to push in their chairs, and who think F%*K is just another everyday word... the small things inform the big things...

117/365 Monday...

Watching "The Way We Were"... never did see that.... didn't they know that smoking while pregnant was bad in '73?!!?!?!

116/365 Typical Sunday

All I've done all day is clean, and do laundry. I should feel more sense of accomplishment shouldn't I?! Getting the post in early today... not sure if I'll get more inspired later or not!

114/365 Adventures in Mercury Retrograde...

Finally got to take a few shots of Bobby surfing! The waves were not the best, but the light was pretty cool. Made for some cool shots since he was the only one out there.
Then, as we were leaving, he realized that he locked his keys in his car! Thank the powers for roadside assistance!
Hope you enjoyed your hot shower Bobby! I think it was well earned... I'll get some daylight pics someday...

112/365 Some Kiss We Want

There is some kiss we want with
our whole lives, the touch of

spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.

And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling! At

night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its

face against mine. Breathe into
me. Close the language- door and

open the love window. The moon
won't use the door, only the window.

111/365 Tranquil Eyes

So, it turns out that I've developed a bit of dry eyes since moving out here. It is A LOT dryer here than I've ever experienced, at least for extended periods of time. My eye doctor gave me contacts for dry eyes, and I did some research myself. My eyes are the worst when I first wake up. Seems that my tears evaporate at night... so I found these little babies online and they are AMAZING... They're soft and comfy, most of the time I don't even realize they're on. They're like a sleeping mask with little removable soft foam pads that you moisten with distilled water, then sleep with them on... SO nice... they also came with little self-heating discs that you can put behind the foam and they warm the eyelids to stimulate the oil glands that keep the eyes moist at night. I'd recommend them to anyone. Even if you don't have dry eyes, they feel so nice on tired, puffy eyes too! Been using them about a month now... LOVE EM!

110/365 Labor-less Day

Beedge had the great idea of taking a picture of someone working on Labor Day, but the idea came too late, and we were already on our way to the beach! So I took a pic of the sunset today instead... working with some longer exposures to get softer water.
Click on them to view larger.
One more for good measure:

109/365 Well, this is fire country...

This was the view from my backyard. The fire had been sparked by a motorcycle accident (bike vs. hill), no report on how the biker is doing at this time. This one was WAY too close, so glad it happened right by the fire station on the 150! They jumped on it and got it under control pretty fast. I don't know if the Lake Casitas campground had to be evacuated or not... if you look close, you can see the copter in the smoke... and the other pic is of the heli flying right by our house down the river bed... pretty cool.

I also spent a GREAT day with my good friend Renee. SO rejuvenating to hang out with her. It always makes me feel so good!

108/365 Forces working against me...

So... I tried to get down to Ventura again to get some shots of Bobby and Shawn surfing... didn't happen! I got way-layed up here going back to Eva's where I had left my camera bag (and telephoto lens), and by the time I got there this was the only shot I got of them. Bummer. They did give me some AMAZING fresh veggies though... gorgeous... gonna make a mad salad to bring to the beach tomorrow! YUM!
It was nice down there compared to being in the furnace of Ojai all day, so I hung out and got this other shot of some happy people on the beach... I'll get some surf action shots of Bobby SOME DAY!!!

107/365 Ahhhhh, Lancaster....

Had to make another trip out there today for work... never thought I'd need to do that! It was a good meeting, though... looking forward to these changes!
As we were leaving, Christine's car wouldn't start, but we gave her a jump and she was good to go!

supplement...Wildfire sunset...

Once again, I like this pic... so up it goes! I really did very little PS editing here. The wild fires suck, yes, but MAN do they do amazing things to the sunsets!

106/365 Feed Me Seymour!

One of my orchids is going to bloom again! Very exciting. I can't help but think of "Little Shop of Horrors" when I look close at these buds... Can't you just see it saying that???

105/365 In Honor.

With all the fires raging in Southern California right now, (currently 41 new fires, 5 large, uncontained) I thought I'd take this opportunity to honor the firefighters. We appreciate all they do and sometimes the major sacrifices they endure to keep us residents safe!

104/365 I feel pretty.... oh so pretty...

Well, NOW I do... maybe not so much in the pic... That's Beedge... the coolest stylist ever! He needs to write a memoir... he's had quite an interesting life!
